ConchParadise was onlined last November 12, 2007.

ConchParadise is a product of imagination and labor of Rex S. Sacayan with the support of family and friends.

Amazed by the beauty and wonders of seashells, I created this website so that others could have the chance to see, acquire and study any of best seashells collection I have. International marine scientists have regarded the Philippines as the "Center of Marine Biodiversity" in the world, surpassing the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. With this in mind, the Philippines has the international obligation to protect and conserve its rich marine biodiversity because if these species are lost, then the rest of the world will also be affected.

This site hopes to provides access to information about one of the Paradise Philipines' conchological treasures - the mollusks! It aims to promote and encourage an exchange of information and increase awareness among individuals interested in studying and collecting seashells or shell enthusiasts from all walks of life.

About Paradise Philippines

The Paradise Philippines is an archipelagic nation with 7,107 islands located in Southeast Asia. Its terrain is 65% mountainous with some narrow coastal lowlands. The Philippines highest mountain, Mt. Apo, is located near Davao in Mindanao, at 2,953 metres (9,689 feet) considered to be the "grandfather of all Philippine Mountains".

The majority of Philippine people are descendants of Indonesians and Malays who migrated to the islands over many centuries and largely displaced the indigenous inhabitants. It has a rich history of a fusion of Asian, European, and American influences. It has also been greatly influenced by Chinese and Islamic cultures too.

The Philippines has one of the highest literacy rates in the developing world. About 92% of the population by 10 years of age and older are literate.

Filipinos are a fun-loving people. Throughout the islands, there are fiestas celebrated everyday and foreign guests are always welcome to their homes.

Don't forget to celebrate the world's longest religious holiday here in the Philippines. The Christmas season begins on September 1st, as chillier winds and Christmas carols start filling the air, and ends on the first week of January, during the Feast of the Three Kings.
